Terms of Service
Last updated: August 23, 2026
Welcome to Ello. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use Ello on behalf of a business, you are agreeing on that business's behalf too.
1. The service
Ello gives every business a handle (like @acme) that customers can call from a browser or the app, free of charge. Calls travel over the internet, not the public telephone network. A business is answered by a person or by a voice AI agent. During this phase, orders are captured for the business to fulfil. Ello does not process payments.
2. Your account
- You sign in with Google.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Ello.
- One person may hold one account, and each business handle belongs to a single business.
3. Businesses
- Handles. Handles are unique, assigned in order, and may not be sold or transferred to another business without our permission.
- Verification. We verify every business before it can go live, and we may remove a business that fails to maintain the standards in these terms.
- Availability. When you mark your business available, customers may call at any time. Calls that go unanswered are marked missed.
- Voice AI agents. The agent answers from your inventory, profile, and website. You are responsible for keeping those accurate, because customers will rely on them, and the agent is your agent.
- Orders and meetings. You are responsible for fulfilling orders placed through Ello and for honouring meetings booked through it. Orders placed today are capture-only; do not charge customers through Ello.
- Customer privacy. You may use a customer's delivery address only to fulfil their order, and a customer's phone number only when they have consented. You may not use customer data for marketing without consent.
4. Customers
- Calls to businesses are free and do not require an account.
- Orders you place are requests to the business to sell you the items; fulfilment, payment, and delivery are between you and the business.
- Only call a business with legitimate intent.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use Ello to:
- violate any law, regulation, or third-party right;
- harass, threaten, or defraud any person or business;
- interfere with the service, its calls, or its security;
- attempt to gain access to systems, data, or accounts you do not own; or
- misrepresent a business, or make an imitation that could mislead callers.
6. Our intellectual property
The Ello name, logo, and service are ours. You keep ownership of your business content. You grant us the rights needed to operate the service, for example to display your business profile, play your agent's greeting, and route your calls.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI agent will be accurate or complete. Calls depend on the internet, which we do not control.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ello and its staff are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, arising from your use of the service, including failed calls, agent errors, and unfulfilled orders. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the product, and continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
